Actual Celebrity drink package cost

Celebrity adds 20% gratuity to the Classic Drink Package at purchase and it is not optional. That gap, $13.90 a day, is the single most common surprise on the folio. Everything below already includes it.

Alcohol categories first, then everything else. Prices are as printed on the menu, before the 20% bar gratuity. The $12 cap is the Classic Drink Package's per-drink ceiling: above it Celebrity covers $12 of the drink and you pay the difference.

Every drink package rule, in plain language

5 apply on every Celebrity sailing. 2 depend on your cabin, your homeport or what you order, and those are the ones that change the answer.

01always

Gratuity

Celebrity adds a 20% gratuity to the package price, so the figure you see when you book is not what you pay. Enter the advertised daily rate below and we will add it for you.

02always

Price varies

Celebrity does not publish one daily price: it moves with the ship, the itinerary and the length of the sailing. Pre-cruise tracking puts Classic around $58–$81 a day and Premium around $72–$99 before the 20% gratuity, and Premium typically runs $13–$20 a day above Classic. Onboard is dearer than booking ahead, and Classic comes bundled with All Included fares. Use the price in your own cruise planner, the only figure that is actually yours.

03over

Max drink value

Order above your package cap and the drink is still poured: you pay the difference, plus 20% on that difference. Classic covers drinks up to $12, Premium up to $19. Both caps rise on UK and Australian sailings, to $14 and $23.

04always

Daily limit

Neither package limits how many drinks you can have in a day. Celebrity applies the usual pacing rules at the bar, but there is no 15-drink ceiling like Royal Caribbean or Carnival.

05always

Not included

Wine by the bottle is not covered but comes at 15% off on Classic and 20% off on Premium. Mini-bar, room service and anything from the shops are excluded outright, and packages cannot be shared. Premium also upgrades sodas and bottled water to premium selections that Classic will not cover.

06always

Pre-purchase

You can change or cancel a package up to 48 hours before you sail. After that it is non-refundable, so the decision is effectively made two days out.

07cabin

Cabin purchase rule

Every guest of legal drinking age in your stateroom on the same booking has to buy the same alcoholic package. One light drinker in the cabin can sink a deal that works for you alone.

// 09 · break-even by drinking style

Find yourself on this list

The Classic package pays for itself at 5.9 alcoholic drinks a day, with the $12 cap already counted. Ignore the cap and it flatters itself to 4.6.

Light0 to 4 a day
The package does not pay off anywhere in this band, and on a two-adult cabin it is worse still, because the buy-in rule charges you for a package the second person barely uses. Pay at the bar. This is the honest answer and it does not change by line.

NOT WORTH IT
Moderate5 to 8 a day
The break-even sits inside this band, so one drink a day either way flips the verdict. Watch the $12 cap here: 84 priced drinks sit above it, so a night of top-shelf ordering moves the real number away from the naive one.

Heavy9 a day or more
+
Clear of break-even with room to spare, and price stops being the question. The two things left to watch are the daily limit and the fact that nothing is covered at a regular port of call.
Bar tab at 9/day
$164.24
a day at the average drink
With the package
$120.70
saves $43.54 a day
WORTH IT

Break-even is the package price with gratuity divided by the average value it actually delivers per drink, so the $12 cap is inside the number rather than assumed away.

How the calculator works

Two totals, honestly compared. What the package really costs once the line has taken its cut, against what your drinks would ring up one at a time.

01
What the package really costs
The advertised daily price times the nights on your sailing times every adult the cruise line forces to buy in, plus the package gratuity. That last multiplier is the one people forget.
$69.50/day · 20% gratuity · cabin buy-in
02
What your bar tab would be
Your drinks at that line’s current menu prices, with the same bar gratuity applied. Accept the category median or pick the exact drinks you order.
166 priced drinks · 11 categories
03
Whichever is smaller wins
We also charge the spend that leaks past the per-drink cap, so a package with a low cap is not flattered by a headline break-even it cannot deliver.
$12 cap · 84 drinks above it
Every figure here is an estimate. Onboard menu prices, package prices, gratuity rates and cruise-line rules change without notice, and what you are charged at the bar is the cruise line's call, not ours. Use this to make a decision, not to argue with a bartender.

The hub compares every line we track, then routes you to that line's own calculator.

Back to the hub

It pays for itself at 5.9 alcoholic drinks a day at $69.50 plus the 20% gratuity, which works out at $83.40 a day. The package covers 35% of Celebrity's 130 priced alcoholic drinks in full, and on the remaining 84 you pay only the difference above the $12 cap. Below about four drinks a day it is not worth it, on this line or any other.
