Caribbean Cruise Ports

The Caribbean holds 111 cruise ports, 7.1% of the 1,572 we track. 10 of them are departure ports. The most visited cruise port in the Caribbean region is Nassau, Bahamas, appearing in 6,404 upcoming itineraries; the busiest departure port there is San Juan, Puerto Rico, with 3,281.

Ports here are grouped into 4 sub-regions: Eastern Caribbean is the largest with 40 ports, Western Caribbean the smallest with 11. Its ports span 29 countries, most of them in Bahamas, British Virgin Islands and Dominican Republic.

The Caribbean carries more cruise traffic than any other region and runs all year, though the hurricane season from June to November brings a real chance of an itinerary changing at short notice. Sailings are usually sold as eastern, western or southern loops, which is roughly a measure of how far the ship travels from Florida and how many sea days that implies. Private islands are now a large part of the picture: Ocean Cay, Perfect Day at CocoCay, Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key all rank among the busiest calls in the region, and each is visited only by the line that owns it.
