Roman Wine of Valencia/ Castle-Amphitheatre + El Puig Monastery
Walk in the footsteps of Gen. Hannibal & Escipión 212BC visiting the Roman fortress of Saguntum, Roman Amphitheatre & elements of medieval Valencia visiting the active "Mercedarian Knights Monastery" of El puig. A unique tour offers Roman themed Wine Tasting / Gourmet Lunch at the amfitheatro combined with historic sites; Wine Art & History! Autóctono grapes Mourvedre, Garnacha, Malvasia & Moscatel were historically important from Camp de Mourvedre & our glorious tasting represents these wines in various styles. Sadly the comarca fell from its Roman viticultural glory & nowadays only a few vineyards still remain. We pay homage to the Romans & the wines they exported to Rome with a tasting of select dry wines + historic Fondillon (aged 30+yrs) & an inspiring gourmet lunch.
