Description

Wilderness Hike and Brew Get outside, you're in Alaska! During this 2.5 hour nature discovery tour you and your small group will be led into the stunning Alaskan wilderness along a lush, 3 mile rainforest trail that follows the scenic shore of a beautiful lake above Ketchikan. Enter a world with hushed sounds, cool, clean and crisp air and where the earthy smells of the forest will transport you to a different world. The adventure begins as you make a comfortable drive through the historic downtown of Ketchikan to the trailhead while your local, friendly and knowledgeable guide shares fascinating facts and stories about the history, culture, and people of Ketchikan. Once at the trailhead your guide will take you up a steep access road to the quiet, moss-blanketed trail, explaining the area flora and fauna along the way as you admire the giant cedar, hemlock, and spruce trees towering overhead, acting as giant sentinels. In the spring, the snowmelt creates a beautiful, cascading waterfall to the lake. Bears are frequently spotted in the lake area. Following the hike, you will make your way back into town to reward yourself with a delicious and refreshing local brew (draft beer or coffee) at the oldest bar still operating in Ketchikan. This classic bar is full of character with a great outdoor covered area over the water where you can chill out with your newfound trail friends. Your tour will then end at the Arctic Bar, which is an easy, short walk from your cruise ship. This moderate tour is perfect for nature lovers and those who want to walk on the wild side of Southeast Alaska! Book your spot today. Please Note: Guests must be able to walk 3 miles along uneven ground that includes several stairs plus uphill and downhill portions. Bottled water provided. Your group is limited to a maximum of only 8 guests or less, providing you with a quality personal experience.
