Hike the lush tropical forest, and cross over a suspension bridge and streams, while learning about the medicinal plants, flora, and animals on your way to a natural pool and waterfall. Meet the friendly reception team to start your nature experience. Journey to the starting point of the trek in a fully narrated, air-conditioned van or minibus. Once there, there's a quick safety training and orientation while safety gear is distributed. Participants will have the opportunity to use the nearby facilities before the tour. Observe beautiful tropical birds and plants along the trail. Learn about the diverse folk remedies and therapeutic properties of plant leaves, flowers, and roots. Along the route, enjoy the scenery as you splash across streams and arrive at a natural woodland pool and waterfall, where you're invited to take a refreshing swim. Make the return journey to the starting spot after some revitalizing time there. Time is provided to change or use the facilities before reboarding your bus or minivan for your exciting journey back to the port, including merengue music and a complimentary rum drink. - We recommend wearing a bathing suit under lightweight clothing and sturdy shoes (hiking or sneakers) you do not mind getting wet, water-shoes (with heavy tread), or sport type sandals with a back-strap (like Tevas). Flip-flops, dress sandals, or street shoes are not permitted. Participants who do not have the proper footwear will be required to rent shoes for a nominal fee. A towel, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, and cash for purchases is suggested.
- Guests must be at least 11 years of age and proof of age is required. Parents must provide copies of passports for all children under 18 years old. This tour is not wheelchair, scooter, or walker accessible, and cannot accommodate guests with mobility issues, or those who have difficulty walking or standing. Participants must fit comfortably in one seat on the transport vehicle and be able to stand, walk, and board the bus completely unassisted by staff or friends/family. Guests must be able to easily navigate uneven terrain, sandy areas, inclines, downward slopes, and steps. Guests must also be able to cross a river on foot. The water height varies depending on the season and the amount of recent precipitation. Participants must be free of respiratory and heart problems. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women and guests with back or neck injuries, as the roads are bumpy in many areas. Participants who do not have the proper footwear will be required to rent shoes for a nominal fee.
