Ancient Pompeii was a bustling port city and its neighbor Herculaneum was a wealthier town filled with fine, marble-clad housing. Walk past houses, shops, squares, brothels, and more as you imagine what life was like in the moments before the lava started flowing. You will see natural molds of human bodies, animals, everyday objects, and even food. The beauty of Roman architecture is on full display here through marvelous villas and public buildings including the Villa Dei Misteri, the Forum, Macellum (market), and the local amphitheater. - An approximate 3 to 8-minute walk from the cruise ship pier is required to reach your departure location. Full details will be provided in your electronic ticket upon confirmation.
- We recommend wearing comfortable, seasonal clothing and sensible, flat-soled walking shoes. Sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are also suggested.
- Guests must be able to walk over cobblestones and uneven surfaces, inclines, and steps. Guests should be in good physical condition with the ability to walk uphill or climb stairs. The tour itinerary may be reversed but always covers the mentioned sights. Guests must be able to get in and out of transportation. This tour is not wheelchair accessible because of the varied terrain at the sites you will be visiting. Guests must bring a photo ID matching the first and last name provided at the time of booking, or entry may be denied.
