The walled city of Lucca has something for everyone -- amazing architectural points of interest (most notably the ancient wall that still surrounds the city, transformed into a beautiful pedestrian green space), great shopping, excellent food, pretty piazzas, a botanical garden, fascinating history. In the nearby wine region of Montecarlo, wines of excellent quality are produced. You have the option of adding a wine tasting at a family-run winery (additional cost to be paid on the spot, directly to the winery). The tasting includes five wines (Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, rosé, red IGT blend, and Vin Santo) plus an ample assortment of snacks.
