There are also old parts of the city which sometimes date back to the 12th century. The old parts house the Hassan mosque (construction began in 1184) as well as the Almohad ramparts and gates, the only remaining vestiges of a large project for the capital city of the Almohad caliphate. ◇The Hassan Mosque ◇Kasbah des Oudaias ◇Mérinid Chellah Necropolis
