About this excursion

Barcelona’s best tapas aren’t on the boulevards. They’re down the side streets, in vaulted bodegas and port-side bars where white wine still arrives in a porrón, a long-spouted glass jug you drink from at arm’s length.

On this 3.5-hour small-group walking tour, a local guide takes you from the Gothic Quarter through El Born to Barceloneta’s old fishermen’s quarter, with 6 tastings and 3 drinks across five stops. You’ll pick your own bite at a Basque bar, try the bomba that made Barceloneta famous, and sit down to fideuà in a third-generation tavern housed in the neighborhood’s oldest building. Midday guests start beside a 2,000-year-old Roman wall; evening guests begin under hanging jamón legs by the port.

Along the way, the city’s story unfolds: a church built by hand in 60 years, an eternal flame, and a squatting good-luck figure only Catalans could love.
