About this excursion
Explore El Born on a private evening tour with tapas tasting and flamenco. Discover medieval streets, Santa Maria del Mar, and local traditions with wine, food, and an intimate live performance.
Experience Barcelona in the evening with this private tour that brings together history, gastronomy, and flamenco in one experience. Explore the El Born neighborhood with one of the most authentic atmospheres in the city, where daily life unfolds among medieval streets, small bars, and independent shops.
Your experience begins in a traditional local bar. With a beer or a glass of wine, you’ll be introduced to simple but popular customs, such as preparing “pan con tomate” or learning how to drink from a “porro,” a shared wine pitcher that reflects the social side of Catalan culture.
From there, you’ll walk through some of El Born’s most emblematic streets. Along Carrer de Montcada, you’ll see former aristocratic residences that now house cultural institutions such as the Picasso Museum and the Moco Museum. On Passeig del Born, once a medieval tournament ground, your guide will explain how the area evolved into one of Barcelona’s liveliest meeting points.
Nearby streets like Carrer de l’Argenteria still reflect the neighborhood’s artisan past. You’ll continue to Santa Maria del Mar, one of the finest examples of Catalan Gothic architecture. Built by merchants and shipbuilders, it represents the identity of this neighborhood more than any other landmark.
A short walk brings you to the Mercat del Born, where the remains of the 18th-century city are preserved beneath a former market structure. It offers valuable context to understand Barcelona beyond its main highlights.
Next, you’ll taste a variety of traditional dishes, each with its own character: potato bite with Cabrales blue cheese, classic cannelloni, or black rice with squid, a lesser-known but much-loved alternative to paella.
The evening ends with a flamenco performance in an intimate setting. Rather than a large-scale show, this is a closer, more personal experience of flamenco where the connection between the singer, guitarist, and dancer can be fully appreciated.
