About this excursion
Athens and Cape Sounion in one unhurried private day. Your driver meets you at your hotel, apartment or cruise ship in an air-conditioned Mercedes with Wi-Fi and bottled water, and the morning starts at the Acropolis: the Parthenon, the Erechtheion with its Caryatids and the Temple of Athena Nike. Then see the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, the marble Panathenaic Stadium of the 1896 Olympics and the Changing of the Guard at Parliament.
In the afternoon, follow the Athenian Riviera past Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, stop at turquoise Lake Vouliagmeni, and end at Cape Sounion, where the Temple of Poseidon stands on a cliff above the Aegean. There's time for lunch at a seaside tavern.
