Before our tool here on Gangwaze, ducks weren't tracked. Occasionally, the cruiser would post to social media, but it would be very lucky for the originator to come across that post. This new tool allows duck hiders to 'tag' their ducks with a special code. Anyone coming across that duck can report the finding. The originator (and anyone else who has interacted with that duck) will be notified with the date, location and photo updates.

Cruising ducks was popularized in 2018 by Abby Davis. The 11-year-old hid 50 ducks on the ship for others to find. The idea 'created some waves' when later shared on social media. The trend has since exploded . Even the cruise lines are getting in on the fun, selling specialized ducks in the on board shops.

Some avid enthusiasts hide 50+ ducks on their sailing. We don't encourage users to track all of their ducks. We recommend tracking 2-5 of your most prestigious, show-ducks. We encourage you to go for 'quality over quantity' when creating your tracking profiles.
