Spend your time in Juneau on an Alaskan wilderness hiking adventure as you get up close to the Mendenhall Glacier! This exhilarating tour will show you a stunning piece of Alaskan nature as you hike through the Tongass Rainforest towards the glacier. As you emerge from the forest and approach the final ridge, the jagged face of the glacier bursts into view, and its river of ice coursing behind it. From here, we will stop and take in panoramic views of the Mendenhall Glacier, enjoy hearty snacks, and capture breathtaking photos. Views of the glacier from afar may include crevasses filled with deep blue color and the icefall at the toe of the glacier. From this vantage point, you will see Nugget Falls and icebergs floating on the Mendenhall Lake. The Mendenhall Glacier is receding at a fast pace and due to this we are seeing drastic changes to the surface of the glacier. For this reason, it is not safe to walk on the glacier.
