The Hobart Wanderer Begin your day with a briefing on Tasmanian history before driving along Hobart city's streets, stopping at the top of Mt. Wellington and Cascade Brewery. Mt. Wellington offers panoramic, breathtaking views of the picturesque scenery of the region. Your local guide will drive by Hobart's cherished monuments, giving detailed descriptions of their origins. Stop at Australia's oldest brewery, Cascade Brewery, to stroll their glorious gardens or sample some local lagers. Your journey continues as you pass through Tasmania's farmland and cool climate wine region to the picturesque town of Richmond. You will next stop at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, where kangaroos can be hand fed and Tasmanian Devils adored. Guests not wanting to visit the Sanctuary can be dropped at Richmond and have more time exploring the quaint 19th century streets. (Guests stopping at Bonorong will be taken to Richmond after visiting the wildlife). A great introduction to Tasmania, this tour will surely leave you wanting to return and explore more of this beautiful island. When the tour has ended, guests can choose to be dropped off at the cruise ship terminal or at Salamanca (a short 10-minute walk to the terminal) to explore more of Hobart. Please Note: The entrance fee to the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is included in the price of the tour.
Hobart is the state capital and the largest city in Tasmania. Perched on the southeast part of the island, Hobart offers many historic buildings, cultural events, and scenic views to delight visitors. The city is also a great base for day tours to Hastings Caves, Mount Field National Park, and the town of Richmond. The new Wrest Point Casino is Australia's first.
