Nafplion (also known as Nauplion) is a port city located on the Peloponnese peninsula in the eastern part of Greece. It is situated on the Argolic Gulf, about 120 km south of Athens. The city is a popular cruise port, with many ships docking at the port's quay. The city is surrounded by a walled fortress, and is home to many historical sites, including the Palamidi Fortress, the Acronauplia Fortress, and the Bourtzi Fortress.
