Renovation details
The 2022 full drydock modernization of Norwegian Gem was a wide-ranging upgrade designed to refresh the ship’s guest experience and extend its service life. Staterooms were comprehensively refreshed with new soft goods, updated furnishings, improved lighting, and enhanced comfort features. Dining venues received upgrades that included refreshed décor, improved seating arrangements, and updated finishes to modernize the culinary spaces. Public areas throughout the ship were updated with new furnishings and refreshed finishes, improving both aesthetics and passenger flow. Significant hotel-system improvements and mechanical maintenance were completed during drydock, enhancing reliability, efficiency, and operational performance across a broad range of itineraries. The next scheduled ship refurbishment will occur in May 2026. The Norwegian Gem will enter dry dock from April 24 to May 11, 2026, for a series of "soft and hard" upgrades. Like the Jade, the Gem will debut a brand-new Vibe Beach Club, providing a secluded, premium space for adults that has proven highly popular on NCL's newer builds. The renovation will also include a technical overhaul of the ship's propulsion and environmental systems to meet 2027 emissions standards, alongside a full refresh of the Garden Café buffet area to improve traffic flow and modernize the décor ahead of its summer deployment in the Mediterranean.
