One of the largest and most modern ports in the world, Rotterdam is the major foreign-trade center of the Netherlands and its second largest city. In parts, the water is more than 4,291 feet deep. Numerous falls spill down the ravines, and some of the cataracts are even harnessed for electric power.

Trondheim has been the home of Norway's royal residence since AD 997 when it was founded by King Olaf I. The city is still home to Stiftsgarden, a huge wooden palace. A sheltered harbor where pleasure boats flock and dramatic views of Lofoten Islands in the distance make Bodo a delightful place for sightseeing. The highlight of an excursion here is the new Aviation Museum, one of the country's finest exhibits.

Kirkwall is the capital of the Orkney Islands, and is a major regional seaport located off the northern coast of Scotland. The Cathedral of St. Magnus, a red sandstone structure, is the town's most prominent landmark. Other architectural specimens, such as Earl's Palace, Bishop's Palace, and Tankerness House, add to Kirkwall's picturesque quality.

The Isle of Skye, the neighboring island of Raasay, and the mainland area of Lochalsh form one of the most vibrant and thriving districts in north Scotland and feature outstanding mountain and coastal scenery. Visit the Falls of Glomach, Scotland's highest waterfall, or Scotland's highest profile castle at Dornie. Relax with a stroll around the Lump, or enjoy a coastal walk.

Invergordon is a small port on the North Sea, and enjoys deep and safe waters.
