One of the largest and most modern ports in the world, Rotterdam is the major foreign-trade center of the Netherlands and its second largest city. Among the noteworthy buildings that survived the German air bombardment of 1940 were the stock exchange, the city hall, and the Van Beuningen Museum, with its collection of paintings by Dutch masters.
Take advantage of the many on board activites during your day at sea. You'll have more than enough to fill your day!
Eidfjord is perched at the end of the Hardangerfjord. Located on the official tourist route, Eidfjord is a great place to see Hardangervidda National Park, the highest mountain plateau in Northern Europe. The natural scenery of the area is splendid. The central placement of Eidfjord makes for convenient access to Bergen and Oslo.
Situated along the innermost arm of the Nordfjord, this picturesque village of western Norway is surrounded by some of Scandinavia's most captivating scenery. Here lies the largest glacier in all of Europe, the Jostedal, towering nearly 6,200 feet over a deep valley. Andalsnes, situated south-east of Molde, is at the head of the Romsdalsfjord. Dominated by the Andalsnes Mountain, the town lies in a pretty valley between the spectacular mountains and the tranquil waters of the fjord. It is a gateway to some magnificent Norwegian scenery including the Trolls Path, one of Europe's most amazing zig-zag roads.
Trondheim has been the home of Norway's royal residence since AD 997 when it was founded by King Olaf I. The city is still home to Stiftsgarden, a huge wooden palace. Around AD 1100, Saint Olaf II began to perform miracles for his people, making Trondheim a major pilgrimage destination. Be sure to visit Nidaros Cathedral, certainly one of Europe's premier Gothic-style churches, where the Norwegian kings are still crowned.
Twenty miles from the busy town of Mo i Rana, sits an area of stunning scenery and spectacular views. Here in this heavenly location lies Svartisen Glacier or "Black Ice," the second largest ice area in Norway.
