Andalsnes, situated south-east of Molde, is at the head of the Romsdalsfjord. Dominated by the Andalsnes Mountain, the town lies in a pretty valley between the spectacular mountains and the tranquil waters of the fjord. Here in this heavenly location lies Svartisen Glacier or "Black Ice," the second largest ice area in Norway. Measuring some 180 square miles, the plateau also features individual peaks that spiral upwards of 5,174 feet.

Nanortalik includes some of Greenland's most beautiful fjords, the country's only natural forest and dramatic, rugged mountains. The district's population of c. 2,700 is divided between the town of Nanortalik itself, five villages and a number of sheep farms. The main occupations are hunting and fishing.

Historically a major fishing port, Lerwick today attracts those drawn to the combination of Norse and British culture in the area.
