In the old town you will find the remains of a Roman theater from the second century and the Cathedral of the Assunta dating from the eleventh century.San Remo, overlooking the Ligurian Sea, is appreciated for its beauty and mild climate. Discover what in the nineteenth century wealthy Russians chose as a destination to escape to for the weather. Russian nobility eventually stayed and even built a castle and the walled village of La Pigna to protect the town. Eventually construction began of Art Nouveau villas that still exist today, and it was during this same time the casino was conceived to entertain the nobility.The scenic and picturesque road will take you to the amazing and very authentic 12th century village of Dolceacqua. Take time and explore the narrow, paved alleys, art galleries, souvenir shops and the Castle that overlooks the humpback bridge crossing over a scenic river. You will be provided free time on your own here to leisurely enjoy the surroundings and have a lunch (at your own expense).Your small group of no more than 8 will provide an intimate, personal and up-close discovery of this beautiful area of the world.
