If you love wine, you will be blown away by the rolling hills of Langhe and the a patchwork of vineyards built into them. Not only is this area famous for wine, it's also known for rich cheese and delicate, precious white truffles. Nebbiolo grapes are native to Piedmont, named for the intense fog that settles into the hills in the fall when the grapes are harvested. After you have purchaed lunch, the afternoon will see a visit to La Morra, a charming medieval city with hamlets that fan out into the countryside. In Piazza Castello, there is a baroque belltower with panoramic viewpoint of the Langhe, extending to the Alps, with the country's treed hills, rows of vineyards combed into the hills, roads weaving between them.
