The architect was Bernard Maybeck, one of the world renowned architects in his time.  - The iconic Golden Gate Bridge was built in 1937 and is 1.7 miles long and connects San Francisco to Marin. Joseph Strauss was the chief engineer of the bridge. The bridge took 4 years to build since it's on the wind path and fog path. Dense fog limits visibility. The international orange color of the bridge blends in with the underlying Franciscan complex rock formation. The GGB is the most photographed structure in the world for a reason. The best views are in the afternoon from Marin Headlands. One can walk or bike on the bridge.
