Description
Private Samana In Depth by HorseWant to see the real Samana Province of the Dominican Republic without a bunch of other tourists around? This is your tour!Step back in time and enjoy a simpler way of life on this comprehensive private tour. You will meet gracious locals who are excited to welcome you to their country, and their own backyard, to take in the views and learn their way of life. After meeting your guide at the pier, you will make your way to a private property where horses are kept, approximately 25 minutes away.Once saddled up and on horseback, you will pass local farms on your way to a small general store in the middle of the countryside. Once there, you will have the opportunity to sample some fresh-picked local fruits, locally-grown coffee, and coconut bread made the old-fashioned way. Then, climb back on your horse and follow the river valley, making various river crossings like a cowboy in an old western movie. If the river conditions permit, you may even ride down the middle of the river for a mile or so. The total riding time is approximately 1 to 2 hours, ending on El Valle Beach.Local kids may greet you with handmade banana leaf bracelets and rings for a dollar at the beach, so don't forget a few small bills. Although the beach is not safe for swimming, it more than makes up for that with its natural beauty. Enjoy a typical Dominican buffet (fresh fish and chicken) with as much local beer, soda, and water as you can drink (and maybe even some local rum!), while you take in the gorgeous views of the river. After lunch, take a 10-minute walk from the parking area along a fairly moderate trail to the Lulu Waterfalls. Local kids will be on-hand to assist those guests needing help navigating the trail or crossing the river via 6-8 sandbags. If you accept their help, a dollar tip is suggested for services rendered. They do not beg for handouts. Enjoy approximately 20 minutes of free time at Lulu Watefalls to take a quick swim, jump from the rocks above into the water, or just sit and enjoy the setting. Please Note: Most of the roads traveled during the tour are not paved and bumps are to be expected. The maximum weight for this breed of horse is 250 pounds. Any guests weighing over 250 pounds will not be allowed to participate and will not be entitled to a refund. Any guests under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any other substance that might hinder decision making or reaction time will be denied participation and will not be entitled to a refund.
