Description

In the morning we will take you to the village of Taqa to enter the ancient house of the governor of the city and experience the interior of a traditional Omani home. We will visit the spectacular lagoon of Khor Rori and the archaeological site of Sumhurram (UNESCO site): a port built by the kingdom of Hadramout to control the spices trade on Indian Ocean. Then we will go for a panoramic tour through the highest mountain of the region. We will stop at the sinkhole of Tawi Attir (the bird’s well) and the second largest sinkhole on earth where you can see many trees of desert rose and dragon blood. We will reach the highest panoramic spot where the national reserve of the Arabian leopard starts. Here we will enjoy our picnic lunch. We will drive down through Wadi Hinna and will stop to see the baobab forest that grows there. Before driving back to Salalah we will reach the town of Mirbat, from where fishermen still sail on the traditional boats of the Indian Ocean: the dhow.
