A full day trip to admire the most interesting historical locations of the region. We will take you to visit the town of Mirbat, with fishermen who still sails on the traditional boats of the Indian Ocean: the dhow. We will visit the historical fort and the new museum of the city. We will stop at the village of Taqa to enter the ancient house of the governor of the city and experience the interior of a traditional Omani home. We will visit the spectacular lagoon of Khor Rori and the archaeological site of Sumhurram (UNESCO site): a port built by the kingdom of Hadramout to control the trade on Indian Ocean. We will go to the beautiful Ayn Razat spring at the foot of the mountain to relax in the shade of tamarind and acacia trees and enjoy our picnic lunch.
Like a magic carpet spread before the sea, Oman's coastal plain is one of the most fertile areas of Arabia. Famous since antiquity as the source of frankincense, Salalah was already a prosperous town when Marco Polo visited it in the 13th century! Inland rise the forbidding Al-Quara Mountains, and the desolate "Empty Quarter" of central Saudi Arabia.
