Berlin's Top Ten A panoramic tour of Berlin covering more than simply the Top 10 Sights, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience created to make a tick off your bucket list. If you've "been there, done that" and are on the lookout for another one of those "must do" tours, then this one is for you! You will be met and greeted by your English-speaking escort in front of the terminal building and walked to your comfortable, air-conditioned touring vehicle/bus. Your tour will begin with a drive from Warnemuende to Berlin along the German Autobahn. During this approximate 3-hour transfer, which will include 1-2 comfort stops, your escort will give you an overview of your exciting day in Berlin as well as general, useful information about the city. Upon arrival in Berlin, your first stop will be at Charlottenburg Palace, a typical Prussian palace, where your professional Berlin tour guide will join the group and take you on a unique and unforgettable drive through Germany's capital. You will stop at some of the most popular sites Berlin has to offer, including the famous CheckPoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate and some of the last remaining chunks of Berlin Wall which once separated the East and West Berliners. Here your guide will share some of their personal stories of this very recent history that for nearly 3 decades separated the East from the West. Your guide will take you through a leisurely walk through the popular exhibition "Topography of Terror" which shows the development in Germany from 1933 - 1945, the build up to WWII and when the Nazis came in to power. You will also see the Reichstag building, seat of the German Government, with its famous cupola which was designed by Sir Norman Foster, before moving onto the Holocaust Memorial, a site covered with more than 2700 concrete slabs, often producing an uneasy and confusing atmosphere. Your guide will also take you past the Berlin Cathedral, which dates to the reign of the Prince-Elector, Frederick Iron tooth, in the mid-1400s. Once on the Museums Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enjoy a photo stop as your guide points out the famous Pergamon Museum and the Red City Hall nearby. From here, time permitting, you will pass by the New Synagogue, which is an important architectural monument of the second half of the 19th century in Berlin, resembling the world-famous Alhambra in Grenada, Andalusia, Spain. Continue to the most magnificent square in Berlin, the Gendarmenmarkt Square with its French and German Dome and Schinkel's Concert Hall, together forming one of the most stunning ensembles in Berlin. A visit to Berlin wouldn't be complete without trying the most popular delicacy in Germany's capital: A "Currywurst" or "Bratwurst" (German Sausage)! Enjoy a lunch-snack along with a tasty German beer at the Gendarmenmarkt at a traditional "Imbiss" (stand-up/take-away) as you experience this fascinating atmosphere on this square. After lunch, spend some time at leisure browsing through the souvenir shops or exploring the chocolatier, Fassbender and Rausch, the largest chocolatier in the world. A visit to Berlin would not be complete without a drive down the Kurfurstendamm, an avenue often considered Berlin's Champs-Elysees, with its many shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants and hotels (time permitting). After a day packed with impressions of one of the world's most famous cities, you can check this experience of a lifetime off of your "Bucket List". Please Note: Guests must be able to walk on paved and cobblestone surfaces. There are a few steps at sites. Due to its quick pace, this tour is not suitable for any mobility restricted traveler including slow walkers, or guests who need to sit and rest periodically. Photo stops will include - Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor), Museum Island/Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom), Gendarmenmarkt with French and German Dom, Holocaust Memorial, Check Point Charlie and Remnants of the Berlin Wall. You will drive past - German Parliament (Reichstag), Victory Column (Siegessaule), Red City Hall (Rotes Rathaus), Potsdamer Square (Potsdamer Platz), Alexander Platz (TV Tower), Unter den Linden Boulevard, Hitler Bunker and Bebel Platz.
