Description

Rainforest Jeep TourJourney by jeep into Tijuca Rainforest, the most unique rainforest in the world, located in central Rio de Janeiro.Your tour begins when your professional guide meets you at the ship pier, where you will be driven to Tijuca Rainforest in an open-top jeep. Participants on this tour are seated in the back of the jeep and are driven by the professional guide. The Tijuca Forest is a mountainous, hand-planted rainforest in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It's the world's largest urban forest, covering 12 square miles. The forest shares its name with the Tijuca Bairro, the neighborhood that contains it, and is home to hundreds of species of plants and wildlife, many threatened by extinction, found only in the Atlantic Rainforest. You will enter the rainforest in an open jeep, where it's possible to see the contrast between the stone jungle and a tropical forest in the middle of a large cosmopolitan city. You will pass beautiful "Cachoeira dos Macacos" (Monkey's Waterfall). You will also see the "Vista Chinesa" (Chinese View) where you can take amazing pictures.Your professional guide will explain the history of the reforestation process and the importance of the "Mata Atlantica" (Atlantic Forest). Along the way, you will see many wonderful natural features, such as the "Mesa do Imperador" (Emperor's Table), Cascatinha (Taunay's Waterfall), and Capela Mayrink (Mayrink Chapel).Next, you will enjoy an approximately 20 to 30-minute hike through an easy trail, where the botanical nature of the rainforest reveals itself. You will also see a fascinating array of tropical fruits, trees, animals (including monkeys), and various types of birds and butterflies.Departing the rainforest, you will be driven back to your cruise ship.
