Description

The adventure starts at 17:00 (5:00 PM) after disembarking from your ship. Here you will meet your driver before being taken to the traditional farm crossing through the center of the island uniting the city (Hora) of Mykonos with the homonym village of Ano Mera; a distance of 7 kilometers (4.4 miles). Upon arriving at the village, you will visit the picturesque square and make a short visit to the monastery of Panagia Tourliani (initially built-in 1542) before walking a short 400 meters (1,312 feet) to the Mykonian farm. The farm's superintendent will greet you before leading you throughout the farm recounting its history and century-old organic and animal farming operation. While sitting and relaxing on a traditional stone-built couch sipping raki (a sweetened, often anise-flavored, alcoholic drink) and listening to Mykonian farming stories, you will be served a farmer's snack consisting of local bread, tomatoes, kopanisti (a salty, spicy cheese), cucumbers, and poor man's caviar (chopped black olives). At about 18:40 (6:40 PM) optional farming tasks will begin including the cleaning of the garden and picking weeds; trimming of the vineyard; cleaning, watering, and feeding the animals; picking eggs; and collecting vegetables from the garden. You will also enjoy playing with the animals; they are a photographic bunch. The superintendent and farmhands will be sure to provide you with the right tools for the tasks and will provide instruction as necessary. If you are not interested or able to involve yourself in the farming tasks, please feel free to leisurely wander the grounds, take pictures, relax on the stone-built couch, or continue to play with the animals. You will then be taken back to the terminal to board your ship. This unique Mykonos experience is guaranteed to leave lasting memories and a burning desire to return.
