So, whether you are traveling from Athens ports (Piraeus, Rafina, or Lavrio) or another island on a typical passenger ferry, or cruise ship you will arrive at, or depart from the New Mykonos Port (Tourlos). - The old port in Mykonos is located in Mykonos town (Chora) and it operated as the main port for ferries till 20 years ago. Recently, it has been used by some fishermen and yachts.  - The town is a Cycladic village built amphitheatrically, also known as Chora following the common practice in Greece when the name of the island itself is the same as the name of the principal town. A great number of bars and nightclubs can be found in the capital, proving that the fame of Mykonos to be a party island is not just fame, it is a fact.
