This is a great day out for lovers of fine wine and looking to discover the unique Mont Sainte Victoire wine region. Leaving Aix-en-Provence, we head south through the national park - Mont St Victoire, a symbol of Provence rises over 1000 meters behind the rolling landscape and vineyards close to the historic Provençal village of Puyloubier. First a visit to Château Grand Boise and learn about the production and an opportunity to taste some of their finest wines. On our way, we stop off for a visit to Domaine de St Ser, a smaller unique bio-diversity wine producer. The vineyard is at the highest point sitting against the steep backdrop of the Mountain with its intense sunshine and dry arid mediterranean climate. A pause for lunch on the village square next to the fountain before our third and final wine tasting experience of the day - Domaine Terre de Mistral that produces more rustic wines and olive oil.
The most populated city in France after Paris, Marseille has all the sights and sounds of a Mediterranean melting pot, which it has been ever since the Phocaean Greeks invaded around 600 B.C. Its industrial docks rub shoulders with the picturesque old harbor, the Vieux Port, founded by the Greeks 2,600 years ago. Packed with colorful fishing boats and yachts, the Vieux Port is the heart of Marseille.
