On this descent of about 400 meters (vertically), you will find the vegetation that covered the island before its settlement and feel what it is like to be in the center of one of the largest craters in the Azores. Important: This trail is located in a humid habitat, so it is common to find flooded areas where we will have to cross, it also has very narrow passages and places that, in order to progress, it is necessary to use your hands to make small climbs and overcome obstacles. For a safe experience, we recommend that participants are in shape, have physical strength and are used to taking challenging walks in nature.
What to bring: Comfortable footwear and clothing suitable for mountain hiking (weather conditions can vary quickly).
Mandatory: Hiking boots/shoes (tennis shoes and other types of shoes with flat soles are not acceptable for this hike).
Important: bring at least 1lt of water and a small snack for when we arrive at the base of the Caldeira.
If participants are not in good physical shape to carry out this walk safely, and if they are not adequately equipped and advised, the guide may cancel this activity (no refund). In case the guide has to cancel the descent to the Caldeira, the procedure will be as follows: 1 (if there are no other participants), an alternative hike will be suggested. 2 (if there are more participants), customers will have to return to the starting point, and wait for the group to return, or, return to the accommodation (in this case, the expenses are the responsibility of the customer).
In case of cancellation due to bad weather, the amount paid will be refunded, except for the amount of €4 per person relating to the entrance fee to the Faial Natural Park.
