A wonderful day tour experience travelling in the comfort of a private vehicle, with an accredited driver. This is an in-depth tour of the history of Hiroshima—specifically, the events that led to the end of the Second World War—followed by a delicious local specialty lunch, which is also a show in itself, or your available preference. **Alt: You are welcome to substitute historic Miyajima the famed shrine island instead of Peace Memorial Park. Later we enjoy a guided tour and explanation of one of the top whiskey and gin distilleries in Japan, which includes a tasting. Please be aware that the availability of this tour as a whole depends on the distillery tour calendar availability, and ideally needs to be booked at least 7–10 days in advance. Time permitting (according to the distillery calendar), we may add a bonus visit to a serenely landscaped garden dotted with waterfalls and monuments.
Set on a bay on the Inland Sea, Hiroshima was the infamous site of the first atomic bomb explosion of August, 1945. But perhaps the best reason to visit Hiroshima is the enchanting island of Miyajima with its famous Itsukushima Shinto shrine, considered one of Japan's three most beautiful sights. Its famous torii stands just offshore--a tall, vermilion-colored symbol of Japan that appears to float during high tide.
