Description

Private Piedmont and The Langhe Driver/Guide Drink in the beauty of one of Italy's most beautiful and most important wine regions with this tour of Piedmont and The Langhe. You and other guests can enjoy this spectacular wine region as much as you'd like, as a driver will ferry you through Piedmont and Langhe in an air-conditioned vehicle. Grab a glass of Barolo and relax! Leaving Genoa, a drive of about one hour and 45 minutes will take you into the heart of Langhe. If you love wine, you will be blown away by the rolling hills of Langhe and the a patchwork of vineyards built into them. Not only is this area famous for wine, it's also known for rich cheese and delicate, precious white truffles. Nebbiolo grapes are native to Piedmont, named for the intense fog that settles into the hills in the fall when the grapes are harvested. Barolo is one of Italy's most famous and most important wines, and it is in the village of Langhe where this DOCG wine (a wine that has a controlled and guaranteed designation of origin) is produced. During your visit, your driver will suggest a local cellar where you can participate in a guided tour: learn about, view, and taste the wine. This is a unique opportunity to find out about grape harvesting, bottling, and aging one of Italy's definitive wines. After lunch, visit La Morra, a charming medieval city with hamlets that fan out into the countryside. In Piazza Castello there is a baroque belltower with a panoramic viewpoint of the Langhe, extending to the Alps. You'll see tree lined hills, rows of vineyards combed into the hills, and winding roads weaving between them. At the end of this eight hour experience, you'll drive back through the vineyards of Langhe and return to Genoa. Please Note: This tour does not include entrance fees to any museums or attractions. Nor does this tour include a guide.
