Description
Private Group 4 X 4 ExplorationPartly on asphalt and partly on dirt tracks, this private Corfu Jeep 4x4 adventure tour explores the northwestern parts of the mountainous terrain of Mount Pantokrator, known as the Land of the Gods because of the natural beauty of the area and the breathtaking views over the plains of the island below. After boarding your self-drive vehicles (each Jeep holds four people), you will follow the lead vehicle from the port, and drive up the main coastal road leading to the north of the island. Along the way, you will drive by the resorts of Kontokali, Gouvia and Dassia.Upon reaching Dassia, you will take the small road to your left, leading to the village of Ano (Upper) Korakiana. Along the way, you will pass through the village of Kato (Lower) Korakiana as you drive under the cool shade of the ageless olive groves. At Ano Korakiana, which is one of the oldest, largest and most beautiful Corfiot villages, you will take the narrow, winding road with the 27 cutbacks leading up the slopes of Pantokrator Mountain. You will soon see why the area is known as "Little Switzerland," and into the picturesque mountaintop village of Sokraki, one of the oldest on the island.Once in Sokraki, your guide will lead you on a walking tour through the winding streets "kandounia" of the village. During your walk, you stop to enjoy a heartening meze (Greek light snack) and a refreshing glass of local wine (or a soft drink if you are the designated driver!) at the kafeneion (local coffee shop) situated on the village square.Having nourished your strength, you will say good-bye to the asphalt, and taking a dirt-track, you will make your way along a mountain ridge to the village of Trombetta, resting on the main pass to the northern part of the island. A stop will be made for photos. Continue along the narrow country road leading to the northwestern shores of the island, passing through dense forests of fern, pine and cypress trees and the ageless olive groves.Upon arrival in the village of Lakones, you will stop for photos of the breathtaking panoramic views of Paleokastritsa, the area known as the Capri of Greece, due to its unique natural beauty. From here, it is a 60-minute drive, passing through the valley of Ropa, to reach Corfu Town again. Please Note: This tour offers customized departure times between 7:30 AM and 7:00 PM. If your preferred departure time is not listed, please contact us to place your request.
