While the Adventure of the Seas was scheduled for a major update (Royal Amplified treatment) in 2020, that was cancelled due to the industry shut down. The last major renovation was completed in 2016 - 2018 as part of a $61 million refurbishment project split across two dry docks: October-November 2016 (initial work, including the addition of The Perfect Storm waterslides, FlowRider surf simulator, Splashaway Bay kids' aqua park, Izumi Japanese restaurant, Chops Grille steakhouse, Boleros Lounge, new staterooms, and other updates) and January-March 2018 (completion of remaining features delayed by Hurricane Matthew damage to the shipyard).
