The 2021 refurbishment of Norwegian Star focused on modernizing guest accommodations and dining spaces while addressing key technical improvements. Staterooms were refreshed with updated furnishings, new soft goods, improved lighting, and enhanced comfort features. Dining venues received refreshed décor, improved seating arrangements, and updated finishes to elevate the onboard dining experience. Public areas were subtly updated to improve ambiance and passenger flow. The drydock also included technical improvements to hotel systems, navigation equipment, mechanical components, and onboard infrastructure, enhancing operational reliability, efficiency, and long-term service capability. The next scheduled ship refurbishment will occur in October 2026. The Norwegian Star has seen its 2026 dry dock schedule shifted, now officially set for October 2026 following a 10-day "farewell" cruise from Southampton. This renovation is primarily focused on technical enhancements and bridge system upgrades to extend the ship's operational life through the end of the decade. While no major new dining venues have been announced, the ship will receive a "top-to-bottom" soft goods refresh, including new carpeting and upholstery in all staterooms and public lounges, ensuring the vessel is prepared for its extensive 14-night transatlantic and South American itineraries in late 2026.
